Wanderlust Update

It is some time since I have posted my work from my Wanderlust journey so here is an update.
This was a mixed media inspired project from a Finnabair lesson. Those cute insects came from a packet of kids toys from KMart.

Forever

The March challenge for Scrapping Outback required you to use Fuschia/pink, Purple, Teal and Black. These are some of my favourite combinations so how could I not have a go. This is what I came up with and the gorgeous photo is my Mum c.1943 (age 20). I love vintage photos!

Boy Oh Boy

Loving this gorgeous photo of Tom which I have used on the March Challenge for Scrap the Boys. The inspiration was this gorgeous mood board. (Love these colours)

And this is what I came up with.

Everything Art Update Continued

More experimenting with acrylics. The first was to paint with a brush using different colours to the object. The second was done by mixing heavy body gel with the paint to create texture, applying it using a palette knife.

Zentangling class with Beckah Krahula.

These are from the class delivered by Flora Bowley - Brave Intuitive Art. The first is on a large canvas and the others in art books.  The last one being my favourite was done with Dylusion paints which I found flowed easier to achieve my desired outcome.

Book Prompt - My Past. Using some techniques from Dina Wakeley.

Everything Art - Week 12

Thought it was time I documented my Wanderlust journey which has been taking up a lot of my time to date. This has been an amazing experience and I have learned so much.

The above were from Suzani inspired art and taught by Kasia Krzyminska.

This project was for the February challenge and we had to use some inspiration from something in our house. I chose a dot painted cushion. With this I won the challenge and received a lovely package of Prima products.

Book Prompt - the bravest moment in my life.

Week 8 - Joanne Sharpe - Whimsical Wanderlust Lettering class.

Week 10 - this gorgeous journal under the instruction of Karen Michel - lots of fun using up old papers, cardboard and unfinished projects for pages,

Book Prompt - What I see in the Mirror, I am now getting more confident with lots of layers and not taking myself too seriously.

Another class from Kasia - using acrylics.

Time Goes By

It's the middle of March already, how time flies! This is my entry for the March Kraft Plus Challenge.
This month we were to use the following sketch for inspiration and add some hounds tooth. I have used the Magnolia Lane collection from Couture Creations and added a small touch of hounds tooth - hope you can see it.

And this is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

Wanderlust Update

We are now up to week 7 in our year long art experience  Wanderlust  and it is certainly keeping me very busy and sometimes very stressed a I ponder over what to do and how to do it.
So this is what I have been up to.  Our journal exercise for week 6 was to write all over our page and the class was on Zentagling. I decided to combine the the two and complete my zentangling on my journal page and this is what I came up with. Note to self. Spend more time completing the zentangling tile exercise. The background was created using Dylusion paints applied with a baby-wipe, stencil and stamps.

So, this is what I have been up to this week. We have been experimenting with alcohol ink pens on velum. Our drawings have been inspired by "Suzani" designs. Some of these are to be torn up and pasted face down on the first layer of our project (Still to come) so here they are before this is done.

I always struggle with journalling, especially when using my own hand writing when completing a layout so I was challenged to undertake the  Kraft+ January Challenge which required us to use our own handwriting. So, this is my entry for the challenge which includes a gorgeous picture of my youngest daughter who is now 40. Wow! how time flies.

Wanderlust 2016 - What do I really want...

I love these prompts by Kasia from #Everything Art as they make one think even though sometimes the answers are very obvious.

Everything Art - 2016

My journey with Everything Art has kept me very busy for the month of January. I have completed three mixed media journal double pages and one still life painting, listened to numerous video classes several times and generally had a lot of fun, oh! and learned a lot.
This is my still life acrylic painting.

And this is my journal page where the inspiration was a word to describe what we were feeling. My word was "challenged"

Everything Art - Wanderlust 2016

I have joined Everything Art - Wanderlust 2016, a year long journey consisting of videos from 24 guest teachers and 2 resident teachers, one each week.
This is my first project, a travel diary made from scratch, taught by Kate Crane.

This one is a challenge inspired by the quote " Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free", using the composition  building techniques taught by Kasia Krzyminska.
